Injury assessment is the first stage of treating a new and existing injury. An injury specialist will make sure they know exactly what they are working with before treating, advising and rehabilitating an injury.
SUBJECTIVE ASSESSMENT
The subjective assessment is the clients history taking stage where the client will explain details about the injury. It is. the first stage of any injury evaluation.
2. OBJECTIVE ASSESSMENT
This stage allows the therapist to assess the injury site by using palpation, functional movement assessments, strength assessments and completing any other specific tests.
3. INITAL TREATMENT
After performing all relevant assessment aspects of the appointment, hands on treatment may now be performed in order to help ease symptoms for the client.
4. HOME ADVICE
Home advice will be given to all clients. This will include simple aspects of the treatment plan that can be performed at home e.g. heat, activity advice or forms of exercise therapy.
5. REHABILITATION
Not all injuries will need months of rehabilitation, however, with certain injuries this may be the most important aspect to the recovery. Most injuries require some form of exercise therapy whether that be to rehab the injury itself or for further injury prevention.
6. INJURY PREVENTION
Prevention is more important than the cure. Specific steps can be taken to help prevent injuries. Your injury specialist will be able to identity common injuries specific to your sport or activity and design an injury prevention plan accordingly.
